Flattened, ribbed true French heirloom cantaloupe with warts and bumps, grey-green rind ripens to straw color, salmon-orange flesh, excellent flavor and fragrance, good yield, drought and wilt resistant. Keeps producing, averaging 4 melons per hill. Best flavor is produced in dry weather. Mentioned in 1860's but is likely much older. To get the best flavor, pick when the melon slips from the vine and let sit indoors for a few days, until the house is perfumed with its delicate floral scent.
